Panpepato

Among all the types of panforte, panpepato (pepperbread) is the simplest, and probably also the oldest.
It was invented in the monasteries where the monks mixed the various ingredients, including spices, like cinnamon and pimento,
which give panpepato its characteristic “strong” taste.
